Balos lagoon is a must see location in west Crete which totally worth its reputation. Consists of an area of outstanding natural beauty with shallow turquoise waters it can be reached either by car from the village of Kaliviani (following a short hiking down the path to the beach) or by boat from Kissamos port. The trip starts from Kissamos and then to Gramvousa where the boat remains for a couple of hours, then in a short hour trip reaches Balos beach.
